Plum Personnel is seeking a Senior Building Services Engineer to lead a mixed mechanical and electrical design team across a portfolio of domestic and commercial projects. Hybrid working is offered with a core in-office day, and the role includes ownership of projects from concept through to completion.

You will manage client relationships, deliver robust design solutions, and drive team performance while staying current with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related discipline.
• Three years' experience in construction/building services or related sector.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services design.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a team of mechanical and electrical design engineers.
• Own client projects from design handover to completion.
• Support preparation of RIBA Stage 3 and Stage 4 specifications.
• Maintain strong client relationships and ensure excellent service.
• Attend site visits and design team meetings.

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Building Services Engineer looking for a role where you can combine technical expertise, team leadership and involvement in a varied portfolio of projects? Our client is an established engineering consultancy seeking a Senior Building Services Engineer to lead and develop a team of mechanical and electrical design engineers, oversee client projects and deliver high–quality building services solutions across a range of domestic and commercial developments. The Role

As Senior Building Services Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, managing and developing a team of mechanical and electrical design engineers.
• Taking ownership of client projects and ensuring successful delivery from design handover through to completion.
• Supporting the preparation of RIBA Stage 3 and Stage 4 design specifications.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring excellent customer service throughout each project.
• Attending site visits and design team meetings.
• Working collaboratively with subcontractors and other project stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
• Identifying opportunities to improve project delivery, team performance and customer satisfaction.
• Supporting the recruitment and development of new team members.
• Keeping up to date with industry developments, technical standards and best practice.
• Managing multiple projects and priorities while maintaining high standards of work.

About You

We're looking for a motivated and commercially aware engineering professional with a strong technical background and proven leadership capabilities.

You’ll ideally have:

• A bachelor's degree in an engineering–related discipline.
• Experience in a similar role.
• At least three years' experience within the construction, building services or a related engineering sector.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services design.
• Proven experience managing teams and coordinating multiple projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients.
• Strong organisational, problem–solving and negotiation skills.
• The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
• A collaborative approach, with a genuine interest in developing people and improving performance.

The following would also be advantageous:

• A relevant project management qualification, such as PRINCE2.
• Knowledge of Revit and BIM Level 2 modelling.
• Experience working within a growing technical consultancy or engineering team.
