Job summary

Reevr Talent Ltd. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to own and drive mechanical design projects for high-volume FMCG production. You will lead development of bespoke machinery, upgrade production lines and deliver end-to-end solutions from concept to install.

The role requires strong SolidWorks/AutoCAD skills, relevant mechanical engineering qualifications, and a track record in delivering robust, manufacturable designs with attention to safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in mechanical design in manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Proven track record in designing bespoke machinery, equipment and conveying systems.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new machinery, processing equipment and automated production line solutions.
• Take ownership of projects from initial concept through to manufacture, installation and commissioning.
• Design machinery modifications, retrofits and upgrades to improve equipment performance, reliability and efficiency.
• Produce and review detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs and production line schematics.
• Ensure designs are robust, cost-effective and suitable for manufacture, installation and maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance to other members of the engineering team.
• Collaborate with production, manufacturing and engineering teams to identify requirements and deliver solutions.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across machinery and production processes.
• Liaise with suppliers and external contractors to support equipment design and delivery.
• Ensure all designs meet industry standards, safety requirements and company procedures.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established and growing manufacturing business operating within a high-volume production environment.

This is a key position within the engineering team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of mechanical design projects, lead the development of bespoke machinery and automated production line solutions, and drive improvements across an established manufacturing operation within the FMCG sector.

Working closely with engineering, production and manufacturing teams, you will play a leading role in delivering new equipment, machinery upgrades and continuous improvement projects from initial concept through to manufacture and installation.

The Role

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new machinery, processing equipment and automated production line solutions.

• Take ownership of projects from initial concept and detailed design through to manufacture, installation and commissioning.

• Design machinery modifications, retrofits and upgrades to improve equipment performance, reliability and efficiency.

• Produce and review detailed 3D models, 2D engineering drawings, machine Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production line schematics.

• Ensure designs are technically robust, cost-effective and suitable for manufacture, installation and ongoing maintenance.

• Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the engineering team.

• Work closely with production, manufacturing and engineering teams to identify requirements and deliver effective solutions.

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across machinery, equipment and production processes.

The Ideal Candidate

• HNC, HND or degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Significant experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Strong background in the design and development of bespoke machinery, mechanical equipment and conveying systems.

• Advanced working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

• Experience using PDM software and managing engineering drawings, revisions and technical documentation.

• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes and design for manufacture.

• Proven experience taking engineering projects from concept through to manufacture and implementation.

• Experience managing multiple engineering projects and taking ownership of technical deliverables.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, production and manufacturing teams.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within FMCG or high-volume manufacturing environments.

• Experience designing bespoke machinery, automated equipment or production line solutions.

• Knowledge of automated manufacturing processes and production requirements.

• Experience delivering engineering projects within a production or factory environment.
