Job summary

Six Ventures Ltd in Cambridge is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of mechanical products from concept through to manufacture. You will drive the design process, validate concepts, and ensure production readiness within a collaborative engineering team.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering.
• Senior Mechanical Design Engineer or similar experience required.
• Strong CAD experience and ability to produce manufacturing-ready designs.
• Knowledge of materials, fabrication, machining, welding and assembly processes.
• Experience with engineering calculations, tolerancing and FEA.
• Experience designing products for manufacture and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects from concept through to manufacture.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and technical drawings.
• Carry out engineering calculations, simulations and design validation activities.
• Select suitable materials and manufacturing processes.
• Develop and test prototypes to ensure performance, durability and compliance.
• Work closely with manufacturing, quality, procurement and project teams.
• Improve existing products to enhance performance, reliability and manufacturability.
• Ensure designs meet relevant engineering standards and regulatory requirements.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll lead the design and development of mechanical products from concept through to manufacture, ensuring solutions are innovative, cost-effective, compliant and production-ready.
