Job summary

Recruit 12 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of highly engineered machinery in Cambridgeshire. You will take products from concept through to manufacture, testing and continuous improvement, delivering robust, cost-effective solutions.

You will develop detailed 3D CAD models, perform calculations, and apply FEA as needed, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring compliance with standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in a mechanical design engineering role.
• Excellent experience using industry-standard 3D CAD systems.
• Experience designing for manufacture, including machining, fabrication and welding.
• Strong understanding of materials, tolerancing, fits and engineering principles.
• Experience with engineering calculations and ideally FEA.
• The ability to take ownership of projects from concept through to production.
• Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
• Experience working collaboratively with manufacturing, quality, procurement and suppliers.
• The confidence to provide technical leadership and support junior engineers.
• An engineering degree or comparable qualification/accreditation.

Responsibilities

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business based in Cambridgeshire. The Role
