They are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to support and develop their busy building services team.
Candidates should demonstrate competence in core mechanical design and engineering principles, capable of leading and delivering multiple low-complexity projects independently or assisting with more complex projects under supervision. The role involves interfacing with clients and mentoring less experienced staff.
Project work spans various sectors including life sciences, defense, education, commercial, residential, renewable energy, industrial, retail, healthcare, and leisure, in both public and private domains.

Your new role
You will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical engineering consultancy services for a portfolio of projects, including calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, site surveys, construction duties, and client liaison.
Experience with Autodesk Revit MEP is beneficial, with training provided if needed.
You should be driven to deliver and manage projects according to client briefs and schedules, and to develop strong client relationships. Managing your workload and that of others, updating work plans regularly, and working within time allocations are essential.

Your key responsibilities

• Producing and reviewing detailed mechanical design calculations.
• Creating specifications and plant schedules.
• Developing design notes, basis of design, and reports demonstrating compliance with standards.
• Designing drawings from conception to detailed design.
• Conducting site surveys and installation inspections.
• Mentoring junior to intermediate engineers.

What you'll need to succeed

• An accredited Building Services/Mechanical Engineering degree or higher qualification.
• Chartered engineer status or working towards it.
• Experience managing and delivering mechanical building services across various sectors.
• Proven project leadership in multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience from concept to completion in mechanical design.
• Proficiency with digital tools like AutoCAD, Revit, IES, NBS, and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of energy conservation, sustainability, and renewable technologies.
• Understanding of technical and legislative requirements for mechanical systems.
• Ability to take charge of project deliverables and operate proactively.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience collaborating with structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors.
• Excellent report writing skills.
• Experience with fee estimates and bid writing is a plus.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Security clearance to MOD SC level or eligibility to obtain it.
