Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership across a major radar system programme. You will drive MBSE activities, coordinate with Systems Architects and cross-functional teams to ensure a robust, verifiable design delivered on time and within budget.

The role requires strong systems engineering experience, MBSE tool proficiency (SysML, Cameo, DOORS), and a proven track record in design reviews, requirements management, and governance.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in systems engineering across the full lifecycle.
• Knowledge of MBSE approaches and tools (e.g. SysML, Cameo, DOORS).
• Proven capability leading system definition, requirements, and verification.
• Experience working in complex, multi-disciplinary engineering environments.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to varied stakeholders.
• Experience of design reviews, trade studies, and technical governance.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall technical leadership for systems engineering activities across the assigned scope of your project.
• Lead the MBSE activities and improve tool knowledge and application across the systems engineering team.
• As part of the international Joint Systems Team, be the MBSE point of contact with international groups.
• Support engineering design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR) and ensure artefact production.
• Maintain configuration control of requirements, models, and verification evidence (CAMEO, DOORS, TCU).
• Define and monitor metrics for SE maturity, stability, and verification coverage.
• Ensure project outputs meet quality, schedule and budget.
• Support verification and validation activities, including integration and acceptance.
• Coordinate with safety and security specialists for input to the main project.
• Contribute to risk management within the SE domain.
