Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to support the Mk0 ECRS Radar, working as Deputy to the Mk0 EIS Chief Systems Engineer. The role spans requirements, functional design, tests, and verification, with cross‑discipline collaboration across software, integration and test, and international partners.

You will lead system architects, coordinate development plans, and mentor engineers while engaging with Design Authorities and stakeholders to drive technical direction and long-term

Qualifications

• Experience providing technical leadership in a dynamic engineering environment.
• Experience in Radar Systems Design and/or Qualification at Lead Engineer level.
• Familiarity with Pulsed Doppler radar waveform design and signal processing.
• Familiarity with radar tracking and trade-offs against supporting detection schemes.
• Experience with Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance (ITEA).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain SC security clearance.
• Experience of working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate maintenance of ECRS Mk0 System Engineering Development Plan and ITEAP.
• Define the functional architecture for the ECRS Mk0 Radar System.
• Co-ordinate the system functional design of the ECRS Mk0 product.
• Provide technical leadership to System SMEs within the Integrated Programme Team.
• Develop and mentor System SMEs within the Integrated Programme Team.
• Act as Leonardo UK's principal contributor to the Euroradar Systems Engineering Group.
• Deputise for the Chief Systems Engineer across relevant forums and areas of responsibility.
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support programme delivery.
• Help shape the technical direction and long-term capability development of the product.
