Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd in Edinburgh is seeking a Senior/Principal Systems Engineer to drive requirements management, design and integration for the Typhoon ECRS Mk2 radar system. You will work across hardware, firmware and software with MBSE techniques and Model Based Systems Engineering to deliver reliable, maintainable and testable solutions.

The role offers hybrid working, exposure to cutting-edge defence technology, and the chance to mentor teammates on complex system development and verification

Qualifications

• Understanding of full-lifecycle Systems Engineering principles.
• Ability to capture and design complex hardware, firmware and/or software interactions.
• Ability to work independently and with a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in writing and managing technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Analyse customer requirements and identify system functions.
• Own technical delivery of work packages and design features (BIST, power sequencing, data management, security).
• Contribute to System Architecture and LRI interfaces using MBSE tools.
• Author system and LRI requirements and tests to verify them.
• Lead cross-disciplinary collaboration to ensure coherent system design across subsystems.
• Allocate system functionality to hardware, firmware and software; support integration and testing.
• Mentor and guide other engineers; potentially line-manage.
