Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is partnering with a prominent secondary academy in Bristol to appoint a Lead Practitioner of Mathematics. The role focuses on elevating teaching quality, mathematical fluency, and problem-solving across KS3–KS5, starting in January.

You will model evidence-based practices and contribute to high-attaining student outcomes. You will lead staff coaching, analyze progress metrics, and design schemes of work, while coordinating with SLT to drive numeracy across the school.

Qualifications

• QTS with degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or Physics.
• Proven GCSE and A-Level results.
• Experience coaching peers or leading KS maths delivery.
• Deep subject knowledge and ability to stretch mathematically gifted pupils.
• Active DBS Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Teach high-rigor Mathematics across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5.
• Design and implement whole-school numeracy strategies and staff development programs.
• Coach, observe and mentor mathematics teachers to elevate teaching standards across the department.
• Lead on mastery learning frameworks, problem-solving pedagogy, and digital math platform integration.
• Analyze departmental assessment data to identify attainment gaps and lead targeted intervention programs.
• Prepare high-attaining Sixth Form students for Oxbridge and competitive STEM university entrance assessments.
