Job summary

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Midwifery Manager (Maternity Matron) to lead the maternity unit, ensuring safe, compassionate midwifery care with a focus on infection prevention and continuous quality improvement.

You will line-manage clinical and support staff, contribute to strategic priorities within the Clinical Service Unit and participate in the midwifery management on-call rota, working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver seamless care.

Qualifications

• ENB 997/998 or equivalent qualification.
• First degree or equivalent knowledge and experience in a relevant environment.
• Post-registration qualification or CPD with evidence of ongoing learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and management of the maternity unit.
• Lead quality improvement and meet key quality and performance indicators.
• Oversee safe, evidence-based midwifery care while managing clinical risk.
• Take responsibility for designated wards and departments, including line management of staff.
• Ensure safe staffing levels and escalation in line with Trust policy.
• Champion infection prevention, cleanliness, dignity and inclusion.
• Lead visibly to improve patient and staff experience.
• Foster open communication and empower staff to raise concerns.
• Work with the multidisciplinary team for seamless care and referrals.
• Contribute to the senior management team on strategic priorities.
• Take part in the midwifery management on-call rota.
