Job summary

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dynamic Senior Midwifery Manager (Band 8A) to lead our maternity service. The post focuses on continuing management of the maternity unit, delivering high-quality, safe and compassionate care to women and families.

You will drive improvements in care standards, infection prevention, and patient and staff experience, leading quality improvement and on-call operational support within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Substantial management/leadership experience at senior midwife level.
• Experience of delivering service improvements with positive impact on patient safety, experience and quality of care.
• Leading and developing a team.
• Budget management including human resource management.
• Quality assurance and change management.
• Participation in Trust-wide initiatives/ committees.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong clinical leadership and effective management to sustain excellence in midwifery care.
• Improve clinical standards and achieve quality and performance indicators.
• Ensure high quality patient experience through visible, compassionate leadership.
• Champion infection prevention and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Foster open communication and empower staff to share ideas and raise concerns.
• Oversee safe, evidence-based midwifery care and manage clinical risk.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team for seamless care and referrals.
• Ensure safe staffing and escalation processes as per policy.
• Contribute to strategic priorities and quality improvement with senior management.
