Working within Haymarket (Live Events)

Haymarket Business Media's Live Events team delivers a diverse portfolio of market-leading awards, conferences and industry events across Haymarket Media Communications and Haymarket Professional brands. Bringing together professional communities through high-quality live experiences, the team plays an important role in strengthening audience engagement, supporting commercial growth and enhancing the reputation of Haymarket's brands.

Working as part of the wider marketing function, the Senior Marketing Manager provides strategic leadership across an assigned portfolio of live events, developing and delivering integrated marketing strategies that drive audience engagement, delegate registrations, award entries and commercial performance across brands including Campaign, PR Week, Third Sector, Windpower and Planning. The role works closely with the Marketing Director and wider senior stakeholders, as well as cross‑functional teams including Events, Commercial, Editorial, Design and Data, to shape marketing strategy, identify opportunities for growth and ensure campaigns deliver against agreed audience and commercial objectives.

The Role
  • The Senior Marketing Manager will provide strategic leadership across an assigned portfolio of live events, ensuring marketing plans are aligned to audience, brand and commercial objectives.
  • The role will oversee the development, delivery and optimisation of integrated marketing strategies, using data, audience insight and market trends to drive performance and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Working closely with senior Commercial and Events stakeholders, the Senior Marketing Manager will ensure marketing activity supports audience acquisition, revenue generation and the wider commercial performance of the portfolio.
  • The role will provide direction, coaching and support to Marketing Managers, Senior Marketing Executives and Marketing Executives, helping to build capability and ensure consistent standards across the team.
  • As with all event-focused roles, occasional evening attendance will be required to support the delivery of live events.
Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of integrated marketing strategies across an assigned portfolio of conferences, awards and forums.
  • Set clear marketing objectives, priorities and KPIs, ensuring activity is aligned with wider business and commercial goals.
  • Provide strategic oversight of multi‑channel campaigns across email, social media, websites, digital advertising, partnerships and other relevant channels.
  • Review campaign performance and audience insight, identifying trends, risks and opportunities and translating these into actionable recommendations.
  • Work closely with senior Commercial stakeholders to develop marketing approaches that support delegate acquisition, sponsorship, partnerships and revenue objectives.
  • Oversee marketing budgets across the assigned portfolio, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and activity delivers value against agreed objectives.
  • Ensure effective use of customer data, audience segmentation and CRM capabilities to support targeted and measurable marketing activity.
  • Provide strategic oversight of event websites, landing pages and digital customer journeys, ensuring they support audience engagement and conversion.
  • Identify and implement new marketing approaches, channels and opportunities to improve audience engagement, campaign performance and customer experience.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Editorial, Events, Design, Data, Production and Brand teams.
  • Manage and develop relationships with external agencies, suppliers and partners, ensuring they deliver against agreed objectives and standards.
  • Provide direction and oversight across campaign planning and delivery, ensuring key priorities, risks and dependencies are effectively managed.
  • Lead, coach and develop Marketing Managers and more junior members of the marketing team, supporting individual development and building marketing capability.
  • Support resource planning across the team, helping to ensure the right skills and capacity are available to deliver the events portfolio effectively.
  • Contribute to the development of wider marketing strategy, processes and best practice across the Live Events function.
  • Support the Head of Marketing / Marketing Director with wider departmental objectives, strategic projects and company‑wide KPIs.
  • Attend and support live events as required, including occasional evening attendance.

Builds strong and influential relationships with senior stakeholders across the Live Events business and wider Haymarket, including Commercial, Editorial, Events, Brand, Data, Production and Marketing teams.

Works collaboratively with senior colleagues and external agencies, suppliers and partners to develop and deliver effective marketing strategies and campaigns.

Provides leadership, coaching and direction to Marketing Managers, Senior Marketing Executives and Marketing Executives, supporting a collaborative, high‑performing marketing team.

  • Confident using audience data, campaign reporting and insight to inform strategic decisions and improve performance.
  • Strong commercial experience, working closely with Commercial or Sales teams to support audience acquisition, sponsorship, partnerships and revenue objectives.
  • Demonstrable experience managing marketing budgets and making effective decisions around resource allocation and investment.
  • A track record of building and managing effective relationships with agencies, suppliers and external partners.
  • Proven leadership experience, including coaching and developing marketing professionals and supporting the growth of a high‑performing team.
