Responsibilities
  • Launch new product at world-class quality and cost at pace of customer demand.
  • Infuse strong DFM / DFA principles to ensure delivery of robust, efficient and cost-effective designs that are manufacturable at full scale.
  • Deliver product designs that align with current manufacturing capabilities.
  • Develop new manufacturing processes to support customer-driven product innovation as needed.
  • Your Main Tasks New process and equipment compliance with TE safety and ergonomic policies.
  • DFM / A input into the early stages of product design.
  • PFMEA and implementation of high-risk mitigation plans.
  • Manufacturing capacity analysis.
  • Value stream mapping.
  • Assembly tooling and equipment development.
  • Process qualification via capability studies.Support in the execution of sample builds and first article inspection.
  • Generation of process specifications.
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation appropriately to support customer-driven new product innovation. Apply a lean manufacturing focus to drive world-class cost on new product and fuel plant-level productivity initiatives on fiber-optic manufacturing processes. Support TE's global operations footprint as a subject-matter expert for fiber-optic manufacturing processes. Liaise with manufacturing facilities to support preliminary cost estimates on new product concepts.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Optical, or Manufacturing Engineering with 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, at least 2 of which is related to fiber-optic product.
  • Experience with machine, equipment and process design, development, and deployment into a production environment.
  • Hands-on problem solver with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing Lean Six Sigma principles preferred. Green or Black Belt certification a plus.
  • Must be able to effectively operate in remote teams with broad geographic footprints.
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to balance priorities while working under the pressure of demanding project schedules.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient with 3D CAD software as well as general Microsoft Office applications.
