Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Christchurch, Dorset seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the introduction of new products to production, support existing lines, and ensure services are available to production.

You will design processes, jigs and fixtures, layout cells, and collaborate with Engineering on DFx and manufacturability. The role emphasizes lean methods, problem solving, and ownership of manufacturing improvements.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years' experience in a similar electro-mechanical manufacturing role.
  • HNC/Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electronics).
  • Awareness of modern manufacturing philosophies and techniques.
  • Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, Solidworks).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of material processing.
  • Basic pneumatics/hydraulics knowledge.
  • Organised and a team player with good communication across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in introduction of new products to production.
  • Work with Engineering on DFx, testing and manufacturability issues.
  • Develop new manufacturing processes and build guides.
  • Design and produce assembly jigs and fixtures.
  • Layout manufacturing cells with tooling and services.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to current production processes.
  • Investigate and solve manufacturing problems; address quality issues from build and external suppliers.
  • Identify new production methods and tooling; prototype tooling.
  • Update build guides with changes and engineering updates.
  • Take ownership of departmental projects and ensure production services are available.

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for our Christchurch location, you will be responsible for the introduction of new products to production, support current production lines and ensure services are always available to production.

Your Challenge
  • Assist in Introduction of new products to production
  • Actively work with Engineering on all DFM/testability/manufacturability issues and design of new products
  • Develop new manufacturing processes and build guides
  • Design and produce assembly jigs and fixtures
  • Layout manufacturing cells with all tooling and services
Support Current Production
  • Suggest and implement improvements to current production processes
  • Investigate and solve manufacturing problems
  • Investigate Quality problems caused by build and external suppliers
  • Identify new production methods and tooling
  • Design and prototype tooling
  • Recommend improvements to existing methods of manufacture
  • Update Existing Build guides in line with improvements and Engineering changes
  • Investigate faults identified by other departments and recommend action to prevent reoccurrence
  • Lean tools knowledge and experience (5S, continuous improvement, etc)
  • Support production In all Manufacturing sites
  • Automation knowledge
  • Work alongside other Engineering Departments

What You Bring
  • HNC/Degree Engineering discipline (Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electronics)
  • 8+ years' experience in a similar role in Low/medium/high volume Electro-mechanical manufacturing environment (Less experience/other industry considered)
  • Awareness of modern manufacturing philosophies and techniques
  • Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, Solidworks)
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
  • Knowledge of material processing processes
  • Basic Pneumatics/Hydraulics knowledge
  • Organized
  • Team player - Can work as part of a dynamic team.
  • Good communication skills with all levels of staff across all departments
