Job summary

Carmichael UK is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor for a Ministry of Defence project. The role requires leading the commercial management of major work packages and developing the on-site commercial team.

You will oversee cost reporting, forecasting, change management, subcontract procurement and final accounts, while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships. Prior NEC contract knowledge and experience on marine or heavy civil projects are essential.

Qualifications

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
Extensive experience as Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Lead within civil engineering.
Strong NEC contract knowledge.
Experience on marine/offshore/heavy civil projects.

Responsibilities

Lead the commercial management of major project work packages.
Develop and manage commercial teams.
Oversee cost reporting, forecasting and change management.
Lead subcontract procurement and final accounts negotiations.
Manage compensation events and contractual correspondence.
Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
Ensure commercial procedures and governance are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
