Job summary

Carmichael UK is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor for a Ministry of Defence project. The role requires leading the commercial management of major work packages and developing the on-site commercial team.

You will oversee cost reporting, forecasting, change management, subcontract procurement and final accounts, while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships. Prior NEC contract knowledge and experience on marine or heavy civil projects are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Extensive experience as Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Lead within civil engineering.
• Strong NEC contract knowledge.
• Experience on marine/offshore/heavy civil projects.

An opportunity exists for a Managing Quantity Surveyor, who is a British National, on a Ministry of Defence project. Previous experience managing the commercial team for a Tier one Civil engineering contractor on, preferably a large multidisciplinary project, is advantageous.

• Manage compensation events and contractual correspondence.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.

• Ensure commercial procedures and governance are followed throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Extensive experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Lead within civil engineering.
• Strong NEC contract knowledge.
• Previous experience on marine, offshore, port, harbour, waterfront, offshore piling or heavy concrete projects.
• Experience working for a major civil engineering contractor.
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• British National.
• MOD, defence or secure infrastructure experience.
• Experience delivering high-value marine infrastructure projects.
