Job summary

Yorkshire Building Society is seeking a Manager People Risk - SMCR to collaborate with senior leaders, risk teams, and stakeholders to embed strong governance and regulatory compliance. You will advise on SMCR requirements, oversee certification and Fit & Proper processes, and ensure colleagues understand and discharge responsibilities.

The role focuses on SMCR with potential to broaden into wider People Risk areas as the team grows.

Qualifications

• Significant experience operating within the Senior Managers & Certification Regime or a closely related framework.
• Strong knowledge of FCA and PRA expectations for financial services.
• Experience governing governance, risk or control frameworks within regulated organisations.
• Ability to interpret complex information and translate it into practical actions.
• Excellent communication skills with senior stakeholders and coaching ability.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Society's lead for SMCR, ensuring regulatory obligations are met.
• Lead annual certification and Fit & Proper assessment processes.
• Provide expert advice, guidance and challenge on regulatory responsibilities.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate requirements into practical solutions.
• Strengthen governance, risk culture and accountability across the Society.
• Coach and develop colleagues within the People Risk team to enhance capability.
