Global Procurement enables the ambitions of GSK by leading procurement initiatives on behalf of GSK business units and operations, enabling the delivery of our vaccine and medicine products through the entire procurement to pay cycle to our Patients.

As GSK accelerates its use of data to improve patient outcomes, we have an exciting new opportunity to lead Procurement in this space. We are looking for someone to join the R&D Procurement team to help GSK maximise its investment in data acquisitions and subscriptions. Creating new Procurement strategies in partnership with multiple stakeholder groups across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have experience of data acquisitions in healthcare, knowledge and exposure of best practices in buying data and familiarity with key data providers. Particularly those aligned to GSK's therapy areas.

Key Responsibilities will be:

Strategy creation & execution:

•Create comprehensive sourcing strategies for spend categories in scope of responsibility, operating with a truly global /regional and strategic mindset and in close collaboration with other Global or Local Category Leaders to ensure full alignment with global and regional strategies

•The role requires the ability to develop sophisticated commercial procurement strategies that align with the business's needs. A strong understanding of business and financial analysis will facilitate success.

•Lead contract planning, negotiation, execution, interpretation and maintenance; conducts and monitors negotiations across the applicable categories of spend

•Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce non-value-added work, inclusive of appropriate buying channels

Value Creation / Benefit delivery:

•Deliver global and regional benefits identified in category strategies through effective strategy execution, aligned to assurance of supply (risk management), quality, service, cost and innovation

•Maintain a multi-year pipeline of savings programs, risk mitigation, and ESG

Business partnering & stakeholder management in GSK:

•Influence key stakeholders and business partners to support strategy development, endorse recommended strategies, support execution and agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted

•Ability to communicate with senior Finance managers is required

External supplier relationships:

•Build strategic relationships with key suppliers and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships. Ensure global and regional considerations along with cross-category dependencies are accounted for in supplier relationships. Leverage the Business Review Meeting process to drive the relationship

Influencing:

•Develop and implement effective, partnership, ways of working within the category management structure across geographical regions to ensure a cohesive regional approach to regional categories, aligned globally where required

•Ensure appropriate communication strategy is in place and in use within the relevant Procurement and business customer networks

Requirements:

•Bachelor's Degree/ master's degree or equivalent (Business, Finance, Procurement, Engineering, Data Science, or Science)

•6+ years of progressive Procurement experience ideally in Pharmaceuticals, ideally R&D Procurement with 2+ of those years in data acquisitions

•Demonstrated ability in managing categories is required, particularly with respect to developing & implementing strategies, stakeholder management and supplier relationship management

•Considerable specialist knowledge and practical experience and viewed as expert in field

•In depth understanding of external environment, key suppliers/providers, commercial models, upper quartile of performance

•Exceptional communication and influencing skills across internal GSK teams and external suppliers globally

•Demonstrated success in leading projects to meet and improve the needs of business

•Strong digital data, tech savvy, analytical, written and verbal communications, and influencing skills

•Demonstrated ability to display key attributes of successful business partnering including building strong relationships with key individual

•Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships

•Constructively challenging stakeholders within their field of expertise in order to maximise ROI and align category strategy across multiple markets. To do this a high degree of credibility will be required along with the ability to hold robust debates with senior leaders in GSK and suppliers
