A leading company in the infrastructure sector is seeking a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager to provide in-house Quantity Surveying services on critical projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cost management and project estimating, particularly within data centres or complex services. Radius is seeking a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager with experience in Data Centres, Life Sciences, or critical infrastructure.
Reporting to the Programme Delivery Director, the Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager (Projects & Commercial) will provide in-house Quantity Surveying services on infrastructure projects and programmes.
This role involves initial estimating, budget forecasting, cost plan management, consultant and contractor selection, preliminaries drafting, tendering, contractor negotiation, valuations, variation control, cost reporting, and final accounting. Additionally, it includes supporting financial management functions typical in an end operator construction business, such as internal Purchase Order reconciliation and cash flow management.
The ideal candidate will have more than 5 years of experience managing construction projects, preferably within the data centre industry or with complex services content.
Extensive experience in front-end activities like project estimating and cost planning is essential.
The candidate should be capable of providing all necessary quantity surveying input to manage construction contracts valued between £10m-£30m, especially where external QS firms are not appointed.
Excellent communication skills are required to explain technical matters clearly to non-technical audiences.
Demonstrable experience managing critical supply chains and a strong track record in risk management are also essential.
