Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic & motivated part-CCAB Qualified Accountant (or have significant levels of relevant experience), to join the finance team to support our Black Country Pathology Services (BCPS). You will be a self-motivated, proactive individual with strong time management, communication & organisational skills.

You will provide comprehensive financial analysis and support to the Black Country Pathology service, including budget setting, financial reporting, business case costings, and financial advice to add value.

An understanding of NHS capital regime would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of a finance team responsible for providing financial advice, information, and input (e.g., business planning, service level agreements, costing, market testing) to various clinical services. They will also assist in Trust-wide projects requiring a unified approach.

1. Participate in monthly management accounting, ensuring correct treatment of provisions and adherence to reporting deadlines. Delegate tasks as appropriate.
2. Provide cover for urgent queries in the absence of the Deputy Finance Manager and/or Finance Manager, seeking advice or passing issues to the Head of Financial Management as needed.
3. Interrogate and manipulate financial ledgers and payroll systems. Design and format spreadsheets, databases, and reports to analyse and present financial data. Monitor ledger coding accuracy and provide system training to finance staff.
