Job summary

SP Energy Networks, part of the Iberdrola Group, invites applications for a Senior Design Engineer (Main Plant) at Cambuslang. You will develop and deliver Main Plant engineering solutions for transmission networks (132kV and above), producing designs, calculations and technical support through the project lifecycle.

The role requires knowledge of substations, switchgear and transformers; you will review tenders and ensure compliance with legislation and industry standards, while guiding design

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or HND with relevant experience.
• Experience in electrical substation design for infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of transmission and/or distribution network plant and equipment.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and health & safety best practice within a design environment.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver Main Plant engineering solutions for transmission networks (132kV and above), including design calculations, reports, drawings, standards development and technical support.
• Produce engineering designs and specifications for switchgear, transformers and other primary plant equipment.
• Review tender submissions, assess technical compliance and approve design drawings and documentation.
• Ensure designs meet current legislation, operational requirements and industry standards.
• Provide technical guidance during design, construction and commissioning, resolving complex site issues.
• Prepare engineering documentation and deliverables in line with project quality requirements.
• Champion health, safety, environmental and quality standards across all activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
• Support technical training and knowledge sharing for new technologies and equipment.
