Job description

Our client based in Portlethen is looking for a Senior Machinist to join their team on a staff basis.

Duties include:

• Drill Strings and Tubulars: Manufacture and supply of drill pipes, collars, and other tubular components.
• Inspection and Repair: Provide comprehensive services to ensure the integrity and performance of tubular equipment.
• Hardbanding and Welding: Use advanced techniques to enhance the durability and lifespan of drilling tools.
• Drill Pipes: Manufacture to industry standards (API and premium grades), available in various sizes and connection types, designed for high strength, fatigue resistance, and durability.
• Heavy Weight Drill Pipe (HWDP): Used to transition between drill collars and standard drill pipe, offering enhanced weight and flexibility.
• Drill Collars: Thick-walled tubulars that provide weight on bit (WOB), maintain directional control, and minimize vibration.
• Non-Magnetic Collars: Used for Measurement While Drilling (MWD) and Logging While Drilling (LWD) to prevent magnetic interference.
• Subs and Crossovers: Custom-engineered components connecting different drill string elements or enabling tool compatibility.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5 years in a machine shop environment.
• Experience cutting API and/or Premium drilling threads (essential).
• Knowledge of operating systems (essential), FANUC preferred.
• Experience in programming (essential), FANUC preferred.
• Perform advanced machine operations and threading to required tolerances.
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in the use of IMTE.
• Assist in the development and guidance of trainee machinists.
