Job Summary

Following instructions and standard practices, utilizes expertise in laying out metal and nonmetal stock, setting up and operating entry-level tools, performing milling operations. May require assistance from higher-level Machinists and collaboration with engineering to resolve problems and develop new processes.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Lays out metal and nonmetal stock, performs minor setups, and operates entry-level machining centers and tools for milling, drilling, grinding, or turning operations.
  2. Works with engineering to assist in developing machine and tank setup programming.
  3. Identifies and evaluates patterns, determines methods to meet customer specifications before material removal.
  4. Loads and unloads fixtures using forklifts.
  5. Ensures quality standards are maintained, adheres to specifications and procedures, and passes OAP exams.
  6. Records operating parameters accurately in appropriate documentation.
  7. Maintains a safe workplace and environmental protection, complying with company policies and government regulations.
  8. Complies with GKN Aerospace policy on contracting with the U.S. Government and ensures team awareness and compliance.
  9. Performs daily preventative maintenance on equipment as scheduled.
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED, or 3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment, gages, and hand tools.
  • Experience with machining metallic and composite materials.
  • Ability to read blueprints and meet inspection standards.
  • U.S. Persons per ITAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • GKN experience.
  • Experience with hazardous materials or chemicals.
  • Intermediate math skills including algebra and geometry.
  • Willingness to work in a repetitive production environment, independently and as part of a team.
