Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Pipeline Engineer – Low Carbon to join our Energy Transition Team in the UK. You will lead mechanical design efforts across transmission projects, including natural gas, hydrogen, and CO2, within a broader energy portfolio.

Location is flexible across our UK office network, with opportunities for site work during development, construction and commissioning. The role requires a degree in engineering, chartership or progression toward IEng/ CEng, and strong knowledge of

Qualifications

• A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/Ceng and a member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
• Understanding of IGEM/TD/1 and TD/13, and gas network operators addendums.
• The ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of pipeline and AGI engineering deliverables.
• Knowledge of national and international codes and standards used within the industry covering design and manufacturing requirements of plant equipment and piping.
• Experience of carrying out pipeline and AGI design.
• Experience of working in a multi discipline team on plant 3D models.
• Proven understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts as well as experienced in producing calculations.
• Experience of operational and integrity issue troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Be familiar with the Autodesk suite of products, specifically; AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks and BIM360
• Must be proficient in the use MS Office suite of products to create technical reports, specifications, schedules and calculations.
• Experience of working with clients and contractors with a diverse range of objectives in achieving a technical solution.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of pipeline and AGI designs for multiple projects.
• Contribute to feasibility studies, FEED and Detailed Design.
• Prepare pipeline deliverables and Above Ground Installations such as wall thickness calculations and piping specifications.
• Undertake pipeline routing and population studies.
• Undertake high pressure pipeline diversions.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on development of designs.
• Support development of layouts and 3D models.
• Develop proposals and bids for piping and layout discipline and contribute to multi-disciplinary proposals.
