Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for their Energy Transition Team. In this role, you will lead the development of mechanical designs for a variety of energy projects, contributing from inception to operation. The position offers a flexible location within the UK and hybrid working model, providing the opportunity to balance work and life.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in mechanical design, particularly in the power or oil and gas sectors, along with a relevant engineering degree and chartered status or working towards it. Competitive benefits and a culture of inclusivity are part of the offering.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and a member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
• Postgraduate work experience within Power Generation or Oil & Gas industry.
• Experience of working with mechanical designers and pipe stress engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of mechanical designs on energy projects.
• Develop cost-effective and efficient solutions to complex problems.
• Prepare mechanical deliverables such as calculations and specifications.
• Support development of plant layouts and 3D models.

Skills

Knowledge of national and international codes

Experience of pressure vessel and piping design

Proficient in MS Excel and MathCAD

Experience in Power Generation or Oil & Gas

Education

Degree in a relevant Engineering subject
