Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a senior Civil & Structural Engineering leader within the Energy team. You will direct technical strategy, governance and performance on major energy projects, from FEED to commissioning, while guiding teams and nurturing client relationships.

The role emphasises safety in design, design assurance and collaboration across disciplines, under a hybrid working model that supports flexible delivery across UK offices.

Qualifications

• A degree, or equivalent qualification, in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional body.
• Significant post‑chartership experience in complex civil/structural work.
• Experience as Lead Engineer / Technical Authority on multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience with design governance, Safety in Design and CDM.
• Experience across feasibility to commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for civil and structural engineering across the Energy team.
• Act as technical authority, lead reviews and approve complex designs.
• Lead technical reviews across steelwork, concrete, foundations and more.
• Ensure designs, calculations and reports are checked and evidenced.
• Develop discipline procedures, guides and competence requirements.
• Support bids by shaping technical approach and pricing basis.
• Lead and develop engineers and technicians; coaching and performance.
