Job summary

WSP is seeking a senior civil/structural engineering leader within the Energy team to direct technical direction, governance and performance of the discipline across major energy projects.

Based in the UK, you will lead independent reviews, act as Technical Authority, and champion digital engineering, safety in design and buildability. The role involves guiding teams through FEED, detailed design, construction support and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Chartered Engineer status with ICE/IStructE
• Significant post‑chartership experience in complex civil/structural work within energy/infrastructure
• Experience as Lead Engineer, Discipline Lead or Technical Authority on multidisciplinary projects
• Knowledge of governance, design assurance, Safety in Design and CDM regs
• Experience across feasibility, FEED, detailed design, construction and commissioning
• Ability to lead engineers and technicians; develop capability and succession
• Resource planning to balance risk, programme, cost, quality and team capacity

Responsibilities

• Provide civil/structural engineering leadership on major multidisciplinary programmes
• Define scopes, deliverables, programmes and interfaces before work starts
• Collaborate with project managers and other disciplines to manage interfaces and changes
• Build relationships with clients, contractors and delivery partners
• Support construction, commissioning and operational queries
• Contribute to bids by shaping technical approaches and pricing basis
• Lead technical reviews and peer checks across discipline interfaces
