Job summary

IBM Consulting UK FutureNow is seeking a Linux & Infrastructure Specialist to help design, build and operate enterprise infrastructure across on-premise, hybrid and cloud environments. You’ll work across Linux systems, virtualization, automation tooling and core services while collaborating with architects, security specialists and client teams to solve complex technical challenges.

You'll apply system hardening, patch management and monitoring to ensure secure, resilient platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux operating systems (RHEL/Ubuntu/CentOS).
• Experience supporting enterprise server environments across physical, virtual and cloud infra.
• Knowledge of virtualization including VMware and OpenShift/Virt.
• Experience scripting with Bash, Python, Ansible or similar.
• Understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, administer and support Linux-based infrastructure platforms.
• Manage enterprise server environments across on-premise, hybrid and cloud.
• Deploy, configure and troubleshoot RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS.
• Support virtualization platforms such as VMware/OpenShift or similar.
• Automate routine tasks using scripting and automation tools.
• Implement system hardening and patch management.
• Monitor health, performance and capacity; identify and resolve issues.
• Support storage, networking and infrastructure services for availability.
• Collaborate with delivery teams and client stakeholders.
• Contribute to operational best practices and knowledge sharing.
