Job summary

IBM Consulting FutureNow is seeking a Linux & Infrastructure Specialist to design, build, and support enterprise Linux platforms across on‑prem, hybrid, and cloud environments in the UK. You’ll work with virtualization, automation, and security hardening while collaborating with architects, cloud engineers and client teams on complex programmes.

You’ll contribute to resilient infrastructure, monitoring and performance tuning, and help implement best practices, policies and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux operating systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS).
• Experience supporting enterprise server environments across physical, virtual and cloud‑hosted infrastructure.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware, KVM, Hyper‑V or similar platforms.
• Experience scripting and automating tasks using Bash, Python, PowerShell, Ansible or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, administer and support Linux-based infrastructure platforms.
• Manage and maintain enterprise server environments across on‑premise, hybrid and cloud‑hosted infrastructure.
• Deploy, configure and troubleshoot Linux OSes and virtualization platforms.
• Automate routine operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure automation tools.
• Implement system hardening, patching and vulnerability remediation activities.
• Monitor system health, performance and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Support storage, networking and infrastructure services to ensure availability and resilience.
• Assist with infrastructure migrations, upgrades and transformation initiatives.
• Collaborate with delivery teams and client stakeholders to solve technical challenges.
• Contribute to operational best practices, documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Support infrastructure delivery within highly regulated environments.
