Job summary

Imperial War Museums is seeking a Linux Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and enhance our Linux-based infrastructure supporting the Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) and digital collections. You’ll ensure security, reliability and performance while collaborating with IT, AV Services and collections teams across the museum.

The role requires senior Linux expertise, scripting ability, and experience with storage, backups and inter-system integrations.

Qualifications

• Significant experience supporting and administering Linux environments at 3rd line level.
• Strong knowledge of Linux administration, including scripting, file systems, permissions and system monitoring.
• Experience with network file systems such as NFS and SMB.
• Experience managing storage platforms, backups, replication and capacity planning.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across servers, infrastructure and networking environments.
• Experience working with enterprise IT systems and supporting business-critical services.
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Security-first approach to infrastructure administration and support.

Responsibilities

• Support and administer Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring systems remain secure, available and performant.
• Maintain and develop the infrastructure supporting DAMS and archive platforms.
• Manage storage environments, backups, replication and capacity planning.
• Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex issues.
• Support security, patching and compliance across the infrastructure estate.
• Contribute to infrastructure projects and technology development initiatives.
• Collaborate with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver effective technical solutions.
