Job summary

Searchability in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Linux Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement and support scalable, secure infrastructure across on-premises, virtual, and cloud environments.

You will work across automation, monitoring, security and incident response, with on-site duties in Cheltenham and opportunities to shape infrastructure standards. This role offers on-site work and competitive compensation based on experience.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Linux system administration (RHEL/Ubuntu/CentOS).
• Proficiency with Bash and/or Python.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and firewalls basics.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Nagios/Prometheus/Splunk).
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with VMware, KVM or Hyper-V.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and support Linux infrastructure across physical, virtual and cloud environments.

• Automate provisioning and configuration using Ansible, Puppet or Terraform.
• Monitor system performance, capacity and availability.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and OS-level issues; perform root cause analysis.

• Implement security best practices including hardening, access control and vulnerability management.
• Support deployments, migrations and new software releases.
• Provide 2nd/3rd line infrastructure support.
• Maintain technical documentation and infrastructure standards.

Our client is looking for an experienced Linux Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in maintaining secure, resilient and scalable infrastructure supporting business-critical applications and services. You’ll work across infrastructure management, automation, monitoring, security and troubleshooting within a complex technical environment.

What will the Linux Infrastructure Engineer be doing?

You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting Linux-based infrastructure across physical, virtual and cloud environments, while working closely with wider technical teams to support projects and improve infrastructure services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing, implementing and supporting Linux infrastructure across RHEL, Ubuntu and CentOS
• Managing and optimising Linux servers across physical, virtual and cloud platforms
• Automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Ansible, Puppet or Terraform
