Job summary

CBS Butler is seeking an experienced DV Cleared DevOps Engineer to join a high-profile defence programme on-site in Hampshire. The role focuses on secure, mission-critical Linux infrastructure and hands-on DevOps work.

You will build and maintain Linux environments, automate CI/CD pipelines, manage containers, and collaborate with security teams to ensure robust uptime and resilience.

DevOps Engineer - Linux

12 months +

On site in Hampshire

£600 - £700 a day outside ir35

DV cleared role - current active clearance is essential

Sole British national only - due to the nature of the project

We are seeking an experienced DV Cleared DevOps Engineer to join a high-profile defence programme, supporting the delivery and operation of secure, mission-critical infrastructure.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer with strong Linux administration skills and a solid DevOps background, working within highly secure environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, automate and maintain secure Linux-based environments.
• Develop and support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux Servers and associated services.
• Deploy and manage containerised applications.
• Work closely with infrastructure, software and security teams to deliver resilient platforms.
• Monitor, maintain and optimise system performance and availability.

Essential Skills

• Active DV Clearance.
• Strong Linux administration experience (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
• DevOps tooling including Jenkins, Git, GitLab or Azure DevOps.
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Ansible.
• Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Bash and/or Python Scripting.
• Experience with version control (Git).
• Knowledge of networking, system hardening and security best practices.
