Job summary

National Highways is seeking an experienced Senior Lighting Engineer to lead highway lighting and electrical design across major asset programmes. You will provide technical leadership, ensure compliance with standards and guide the delivery of schemes on time and within budget.

You will manage design consultants and contractors, drive governance and stakeholder engagement, and contribute to innovation and sustainability across the network.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering highway lighting and electrical projects.
• Knowledge of National Highways standards, DMRB and relevant guidance.
• Experience managing design consultants and contractor performance.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Awareness of asset management principles and lifecycle planning.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the design, assessment and management of highway lighting and electrical assets across the strategic road network. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide technical leadership on lighting and electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with National Highways standards, industry regulations and best practice.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Strong knowledge of National Highways standards, DMRB and relevant industry guidance.
• Experience managing design consultants and contractor performance.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of asset management principles and lifecycle planning.
• Professional membership with a relevant engineering institution or working towards chartership is desirable.
