Job summary

National Highways is seeking an experienced Senior Lighting Engineer to lead the design and delivery of highway lighting and electrical schemes across the strategic road network. You will provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with National Highways standards, regulations and best practices.

You will manage consultants and contractors, lead design reviews and contribute to asset management and renewal programmes, while engaging stakeholders and ensuring safe, on-time, on-budget

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering highway lighting projects.
• Strong knowledge of National Highways standards, DMRB guidance.
• Experience managing design consultants and contractors.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of asset management principles and lifecycle planning.
• Chartered status desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of highway lighting and electrical schemes.
• Provide technical assurance on lighting asset management and renewal programmes.
• Undertake design reviews, compliance checks and technical assessments.
• Manage consultants, contractors and supply chain partners to ensure successful project delivery.
• Support project governance, programme reporting and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Ensure schemes are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with budget and programme requirements.
• Contribute to innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives across the network.
