Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Lighting Consultant to join its growing Lighting team. The role can be based in Nottingham, Birmingham, or Leicestershire with flexible working arrangements.

You will deliver street lighting designs, lighting and daylight assessments for a diverse range of projects. You will manage projects, mentor graduates and apprentices, liaise with clients and authorities, and support business development while ensuring high quality, safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Proven experience in lighting design, impact assessments, and daylight assessments.
• Proficiency in Dialux Evo, Lighting Reality, SketchUp, and AutoCAD.
• Strong project management skills, including budgeting and client liaison.
• Experience mentoring and supporting junior team members.
• Understanding of health and safety responsibilities, including CDM Regulations 2015.
• Valid CSCS card and a full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel nationally for site visits and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Deliver street lighting designs, lighting impact assessments, and daylight assessments.
• Conduct lighting analysis, modelling, and surveys, including mitigation strategies.
• Produce high-quality reports, design models, drawings, and calculations.
• Liaise with clients, planning authorities, highway authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures and industry standards.
• Support business development activities, including fee proposals and client care.
• Manage lighting projects across various sectors, ensuring delivery within budgets and timelines.
• Prepare and agree on fee proposals, project scopes, and delivery schedules.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for future work.
• Mentor and develop junior team members, including graduates and apprentices.
• Conduct performance reviews, training plans, and regular one-to-one meetings.
• Promote a positive and inclusive team culture, focusing on employee wellbeing.
• Develop and deliver lighting designs and assessments for a variety of projects.
• Conduct site visits and surveys to gather data and provide practical solutions.
• Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
