Job summary

University of Birmingham is seeking three Library Assistant roles at Edgbaston for full-time fixed-term and part-time permanent positions. The roles support the full range of library services and require providing advice to colleagues and users in the Library.

Various shifts include evenings and weekends; a recruitment day is part of the process. Roles include interaction with Enquiry Services, Stock and Circulation, or Front of House, with a focus on excellent customer service and teamwork to

Qualifications

• Experience working in a library or customer service environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task and respond to queries effectively.

Responsibilities

• Support borrowing, renewing, returning and reserving information resources; handle complex queries.
• Ensure library spaces and facilities are well maintained and report issues.
• Support customer relationship activities such as surveys, feedback and events.
• Assist with navigation, use of facilities and staff appointments within the building.
• Promote the Library and University to visitors and potential students; conduct library tours.
• Participate in rotas to provide opening hours coverage and help colleagues during shifts.
