Job summary

Davies in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an experienced Claims Handler to manage liability claims from cradle to grave for insurers. You will establish cover, record claims, investigate, decide liability, and negotiate settlements.

The role requires strong communication, customer service, and team collaboration. The team focuses on handling claims primarily above the fast-track limit, ensuring compliance with timescales and client SLAs while building strong relationships with external clients.

Qualifications

• Experience handling injury claims in insurance or legal setting.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work to SLAs and legal/insurer timescales.

Responsibilities

• Establish if cover is in place for the claim.
• Record all claims on the digital claims handling system.
• Investigate liability claims from desk or via loss adjusters.
• Decide liability for claims and negotiate settlements.
• Ensure compliance with legal timescales and client SLAs.
• Build relationships with external clients and stakeholders.
• Demonstrate knowledge of policy wording, insurance market, and reserving philosophies.
• Authorise payments within defined limits.
• Mentor and coach junior colleagues.
