Senior In-House Legal Recruitment Consultant at LAW Absolute

A leading FMCG organisation is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its legal function on a 14-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

This is a mid-level managerial role focused on legal and regulatory compliance in the food sector.

The role:

Provide legal oversight and guidance on UK and EU food legislation and related regulatory matters.
Ensure the organisation’s products and processes comply with applicable food laws, labelling standards, and industry codes of practice.
Review and approve product packaging and artwork for legal and regulatory compliance.
Lead responses to consumer complaints involving legal or compliance issues.
Supervise and support a Junior Legal Counsel, offering guidance and mentoring.
Work cross-functionally with regulatory, quality, marketing, and external stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate:

UK-qualified solicitor (6 PQE +) with substantial in-house legal experience within the FMCG sector.
Strong working knowledge of food law, labelling regulations, and consumer protection legislation.
Experience dealing with packaging approvals and consumer-related legal matters.
Demonstrated ability to operate independently and handle a varied compliance-focused workload.
Previous experience managing or mentoring legal professionals is preferred.
