Job summary

Sheffield City Council seeks a Senior Learning Mentor for the Elective Home Education (EHE) Service to safeguard and promote wellbeing. You will work with home educators to assess parental provision and provide curriculum guidance in line with EHE guidelines.

The role involves multi-agency collaboration, home visits, and travel around Sheffield. It is a hybrid, full-time post with opportunities to support vulnerable children and families across the city.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths/English (grade 9-4) or equivalent.
• Educated to degree level with a teaching qualification.
• Significant experience of working with vulnerable children and their families, promoting engagement and assessing risk.

Responsibilities

• Support Local Authority to deliver statutory functions for children educated at home by assessing parental provision.
• Provide information, advice and signposting to parents educating at home.
• Complete holistic educational assessments of initial curriculum plans and annual reviews.
• Offer personalised curriculum guidance to minimise unsuitable education and plan next steps.
• Contribute to SEN reviews, panel meetings and liaise with schools and professionals on EHE policy.
• Deliver curriculum advice sessions and conduct home visits, meetings and calls.
• Manage a caseload and prioritise work aligned with service priorities and safeguarding duties.
