• Support the Principal Lawyer and Legal Services management team in providing strategic, high-level legal advice to the Councils, Members, and Officers, particularly in Employment and related areas.
• Lead and manage a team comprising lawyers, legal officers, and support staff, supporting the Team Leader in delivering high-quality, solution-focused legal work across multiple disciplines and sites.
• Assist the Principal Lawyer in achieving the strategic aims of the Legal Services department.
• Develop positive relationships with customers, support the Principal Lawyer as a relationship manager, and promote innovative legal solutions.
• Contribute to maximizing income and identifying savings within the legal services.

Requirements:

• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of local government operations, including legal, financial, and political contexts.
• Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of Legal Services and support service delivery plans with partners.
• Knowledge of local government powers and duties, with expertise in at least one of the following areas: civil litigation, employment and contract law, planning, or development.
• Qualified solicitor or barrister holding a practicing certificate.
