Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Senior Land Surveyor to join our national surveying team. You will perform topographical, engineering and as-built surveys on major infrastructure projects, using Leica equipment and BIM workflows.

This hands-on role demands experience across survey lifecycle, from data capture to model delivery. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in land/engineering surveying, strong interpretation of drawings, and a degree or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in land or engineering surveying.
• Strong proficiency with Leica equipment and software.
• Experience with laser scanning, control networks, and setting out.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and survey data.
• Degree, NVQ, TSA qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Senior Land Surveyor

Permanent | 40 hours per week | Monday - Friday

Select Plant Hire are looking for an experienced Senior Land Surveyor to join our growing surveying team, supporting some of the UK's most complex infrastructure, rail, energy and construction projects.

This is a hands‑on technical role for a surveyor who enjoys working with the latest technology, delivering accurate survey solutions and seeing projects through from start to finish. You'll typically remain with a project for its full lifecycle, whether that's a few weeks or several months.

What you'll be doing

• Carrying out topographical, engineering and as-built surveys.
• Establishing and maintaining primary and secondary control networks.
• Setting out and dimensional control.
• Laser scanning and point cloud processing.
• Producing survey drawings and models.
• Earthworks quantification and reporting.
• Working closely with site engineering and project teams.
• Supporting digital engineering and BIM workflows.

What we're looking for

• Minimum 3 years' experience in land or engineering surveying.
• Strong experience using Leica equipment and software.
• Knowledge of Cyclone 3DR.
• Experience with laser scanning, control networks and setting out.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and survey data.
• Degree, NVQ, TSA qualification or equivalent.
