Working within the Civil Works Alliance (a partnership between Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O'Rourke), you'll lead surveying activities across major civil engineering works, ensuring the accurate collection, management and reporting of spatial data that underpins the successful delivery of one of Europe's largest infrastructure projects.

As a Survey Manager, you'll provide technical leadership to a growing survey team, working closely with engineering, construction and design teams to deliver high‑quality surveying solutions that support safe, efficient and cost‑effective project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveying professional looking to combine technical expertise with leadership and team development.

  • Leading and managing all surveying activities across allocated project work packages
  • Managing and developing a team of surveyors, survey technicians and specialist subcontractors
  • Developing survey strategies, methodologies and delivery programmes to support construction activities

  • Working closely with engineering, construction and design teams to support the delivery of complex civil engineering works
  • Managing survey equipment, calibration programmes and digital survey technologies
  • Implementing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes across surveying activities
  • Identifying and mitigating surveying risks while ensuring compliance with project, regulatory and health & safety requirements
  • Promoting continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and implementing best practice across the project
What We're Looking For
  • Significant experience in a Survey Manager or Senior Surveying role within major civil engineering, infrastructure or construction projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of surveying principles, control networks and geospatial data management
  • Experience using GPS, GNSS, Total Stations, Laser Scanning, UAV/Drone surveying technologies and digital survey platforms
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS and survey data processing software
  • Strong leadership, organisational and project management skills with experience managing survey teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive approach to project delivery
  • Degree qualified in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Membership of, or progress towards, RICS or a relevant professional body would be advantageous
Why Join Us?
  • Be part of one of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure projects
  • Lead surveying activities that support nationally significant civil engineering works
  • Work within a collaborative alliance environment alongside industry‑leading organisations
  • Manage and develop a growing surveying team using the latest digital surveying technologies
  • Long‑term career opportunities within a major programme of works
