Job summary

Laing O'Rourke are recruiting a Project Engineer (Site Agent) to join the Letchmore Heath substation project in Watford. The role requires a civil engineering degree or equivalent and experience in large-scale construction, with a focus on temporary works control.

You will manage setting out, ITPs, QA procedures and a team of engineers, using digital engineering models to produce visual method statements and risk assessments, while coordinating procurement and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification plus demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
  • Experience on large-scale building or infrastructure projects.
  • Temporary Works experience.

Responsibilities

  • Utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information for Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets.
  • Fully implement and ensure compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary works procedure on projects.
  • Determine appropriate methods of dimensional control with advice from specialists; ensure setting out data is controlled.
  • Interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
  • Determine requirement for and format of as-built surveys and reports; define survey scope to demonstrate compliance.
  • Produce and/or ensure ITPs are produced, available and implemented and address specifications and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure adherence to project and company quality procedures.
  • Utilise and recommend best engineering methods.
  • Design process knowledge.
  • Produce and approve method statements and risk assessments.
  • Procurement.
  • Management of a team of Engineers.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Able to utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information to create Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets. Confidence to show other team members.
  • Fully implements and ensures compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary works procedure on projects. Explains these procedures to others.
  • Determine the most appropriate methods of dimensional control taking advice from specialists where appropriate. Ensure setting out data is controlled.
  • Can interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
  • Determine requirement for and format of as-built surveys and reports. Defines scope of survey to demonstrate compliance.
  • Produces and/ or ensures that ITP's are produced, available and implemented. Ensures that they fully address specification and contractual obligations.

Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering , or an industry recognised technical or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ level 4) plus demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
  • Experience working on large-scale building or infrastructure projects
  • Temporary Works experience
