Job summary

Hippo Digital Limited, Leeds-based digital consultancy, seeks a Senior Full Stack Kotlin Developer to drive Kotlin/JVM development, cloud infrastructure, and scalable solutions for public and private sector clients.

You will lead cross-disciplinary squads, mentor junior engineers, and own deployment pipelines, while travelling to client sites as required in a dynamic consultancy environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Kotlin and JVM.
• Strong Java and full development lifecycle delivering user-centred digital solutions.
• Exposure to Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js or Nunjucks.
• Proven track record delivering high-quality, robust and scalable solutions.
• Expertise in building back-end services using Spring Boot and the wider Spring Framework.
• Experience of Microservices design and architecture, including Restful API services.
• Strong knowledge of public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and DevOps practices, including containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
• Proficient in using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Lead the production of user-centred software, ensuring development follows business requirements and best practice.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to explore, design, and deliver solutions to complex client problems.
• Take ownership of software development and deployment pipelines, resolving issues and potential bottlenecks.
• Communicate and present prototypes, solutions, and progress to internal and external stakeholders in a clear, concise manner.
• Mentoring and coaching other engineers to support their professional development.
