Job summary

Hippo is seeking a Senior Full Stack Kotlin Developer for our Manchester team to deliver bespoke digital services across data, design, product and engineering. You will lead development, mentor engineers, and own deployment pipelines in a collaborative, agile environment.

You should have strong Kotlin/JVM, Spring Boot, microservices and cloud experience, plus a track record of delivering robust, scalable back-end services. Travel to client sites is common in our consultancy model.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Kotlin and the JVM ecosystem.
• Strong Java and full lifecycle delivery of user-centred digital solutions.
• Experience with Spring Boot and the wider Spring Framework.
• Proven track record delivering robust, scalable back-end services.
• Public cloud and DevOps practices with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• CI/CD with Jenkins or Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Lead the production of user-centred software, ensuring development follows business requirements and best practice.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to explore, design, and deliver solutions to complex client problems.
• Take ownership of software development and deployment pipelines, resolving issues and potential bottlenecks.
• Communicate and present prototypes, solutions, and progress to internal and external stakeholders in a clear, concise manner.
• Mentoring and coaching other engineers to support their professional development.
