Job summary

Hippo is a fast-growing digital consultancy delivering transformative solutions for public and private sector clients. We seek a Senior Full Stack Kotlin Developer to join our Hippo Herd and lead end-to-end Kotlin development within multi-disciplinary teams.

You will act as a Senior Consultant, mentoring engineers, leading delivery, and ensuring technical excellence across squads, with a focus on secure, scalable systems and data-enabled digital services.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Kotlin and JVM.
• Strong experience in Java and the full development lifecycle delivering user-centred digital solutions.
• Exposure to Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js or Nunjucks.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality, robust, scalable solutions.
• Expertise in building back-end services using Spring Boot and the Spring Framework.
• Experience of Microservices design and architecture, including Restful API services.
• Strong knowledge of public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and DevOps practices, including containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
• Proficient in using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Lead production of user-centred software aligning with business requirements and best practice.
• Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to design and deliver complex client solutions.
• Own software development and deployment pipelines, resolving issues and bottlenecks.
• Communicate prototypes, solutions, and progress clearly to stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach engineers to support professional development.
