Job summary

Bauer Media Group is expanding a new engineering team in Manchester. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead hands-on development, mentor peers, and drive secure, scalable systems for our audio platform. This role is hybrid with in-office presence in Manchester twice a week.

You will design and deliver core infrastructure and services, influence architectural choices, and collaborate with product and technology peers to meet business needs across European markets.

Qualifications

• Solid hands-on engineering experience across frontend and backend development.
• Experience with Java Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes and Kafka back end; TypeScript/React front end.
• Experience designing services in microservices or domain-driven architecture with event-driven communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain features and services across the platform with end-to-end ownership from design to deployment.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and align work with squad technical direction and product priorities.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing; participate in interviews.
• Champion DevOps practices, CI/CD, automation, and observability; uphold security standards in daily work.
