Job summary

Bauer Media Audio in Manchester is building a new engineering hub and a dedicated software development squad. As Lead Engineer, you will mentor engineers, write and review code, and guide technical direction within the squad while collaborating with product and tech peers.

You will balance hands-on delivery with people leadership, shaping engineering standards, running planning sessions, and ensuring high‑quality, scalable solutions for Bauer's audio platform across markets.

Qualifications

• Broad hands-on software engineering experience with leadership
• Experience leading a software engineering squad in a product‑led organisation
• Strong knowledge of modern stacks and software architecture (microservices, APIs)
• Agile software delivery practices; SCRUM experience is a plus
• Media, audio streaming or consumer platforms experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a software engineering squad, fostering growth and performance
• Write and review code, guide architectural decisions, and set engineering standards
• Plan squad capacity, roadmap input, and delivery prioritisation with Product and tech leads
• Participate in incident management and operations to ensure reliability
• Collaborate with Director of Engineering and cross‑discipline teams to align technical direction
