Job summary

You’ll work with a stack including Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Kubernetes, Azure, and Kafka, and contribute to a strong DevOps culture with CI/CD and TDD practices.

Qualifications

• Expert proficiency in Java or another major language.
• Experience designing, building and supporting large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles (SOLID, design patterns).
• DevOps mindset with production-support experience and incident response.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across teams.
• Knowledge of identity and access management concepts (OAuth 2.0, OIDC) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building and maintaining high-performing mission-critical systems for Tesco.
• Lead technical design of complex features and initiatives; ensure scalability, security and resilience.
• Partner with product managers to shape requirements and deliver outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership across teams and drive engineering excellence.
• Own production systems, resolve incidents and perform root cause analysis.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to recruitment and knowledge sharing.
