Job summary

Tesco’s Profile team is building scalable software solutions in Java, with a focus on data security and customer data management across channels. You will contribute as an SDE3, providing technical leadership, delivering end‑to‑end stories, and supporting engineers across the team.

You will work with Azure and Terraform, implement CI/CD best practices, and maintain solid documentation while guiding architectural decisions and system design. This hybrid role blends office and remote collaboration.

Qualifications

• Solid experience delivering Java or JVM languages; familiarity with JS/TypeScript is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and infrastructure automation (Terraform).
• Good understanding of SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB).
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (Splunk, xMatters, New Relic).
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Good English communication skills.
• Experience in system design.
• Experience in taking ownership of a project and leading a team from technical/ project perspective.
• Proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software solutions in Java (Spring Boot or similar).
• Work with Azure and Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) or show willingness to learn.
• Implement and advocate CI/CD best practices for seamless delivery.
• Maintain high-quality documentation to support development and design processes.
• Use data-driven decision-making to balance short- and long-term goals.
• Apply Tesco architectural standards and security-first practices using tools like Snyk and Apiiro.
• Ensure solutions are robust, scalable and efficient.
• Take ownership of systems, driving reliability and performance.
• Mentor and support engineers to foster growth and collaboration.
• Automate workflows and build tools to improve efficiency.
